30 Day photo challenge

On a dark, damp January evening I was doing what I’m best at, procrastinating. I was deep into a YouTube photography worm hole when upped popped a video by the talented Teo Crawford (view video at bottom of the page).

I watch a lot of YouTube but this video was the first one for while which has given me the nudge I needed to get up off the sofa and load up my Yashica T5 with a roll of Portra 800 and get snapping.

For the next 30 days I took this camera everywhere, from the commute to work to doing the weekly food shop, with the task of taking at least 1 photo on each of these days.

Results varied and some days were easier than others either due to weather or depending on what I was up to. But ‘great’ photos was not really the point of the exercise, although it would have been a bonus!

The process of having a camera on me and actively being on the look out for photo opportunities during my everyday life, has had a really positive impact on my awareness and has encouraged me to carry a camera, not everyday but far more often and not just when I’m heading out specifically to take photos.

I will definitely be returning to this exercise when next in a bit of a photography slump, and is one I’d 100% recommend to anyone whether you find yourself stuck struggling to find inspiration in your photography.

Anyway enough jabbering here are the results from the 30 days, warts and all!
